This is my go to appetizer whenever I have guests coming over and I’m running short on time. It’s a fast, simple and delicious snack.I use PepperRidge farm puff pastry sheets and the results are awesome. You can serve them with ketchup /hot sauce and it makes a great appetizer for playdates, game /movie nights too.
Ingredients:
-
PepperRidge farm puff pastry sheets-1 box-thawed for 30mins
-
4 eggs-each egg makes two rolls boiled and halved-8 pieces
-
1 tsp Salt
-
1-tsp crushed Pepper
-
1 tsp-Chilli powder/Paprika
-
1 Onion-finely chopped (optional)
-
Cup of water
-
2 tablespoons -Oil
-
Garlic cloves -4
Preparation:
-
One PepperRidge farm box has 3 sheets and each sheet has three rectangular folded sections.I generally make 9 small rolls out of one sheet ,you can also make 6 big rolls out of each sheet.I regret not taking pictures of this process, but you can do the math, if you make 6 rolls out of each sheet, then you will essentially have 6×3=18 rolls.I promise I will upload some pics of this step the next time I make them
-
Unfold the sheets and make a cut across the three sections, this will give you 6 small sections to work with
-
In a frying pan, saute Onions, chopped garlic, pepper, salt, chilli powder and let the onions turn translucent
-
Place each half of the egg on each of the cut sheets and top it with the above sautéed mixture on top if it.Now gently fold one end of the sheet in a diagonal way and then dab a few drops of water on the folded edge and fold the other end too over the first
-
Repeat this with all the egg halves
-
Alternately you can skip the sauteing part and just sprinkle crushed pepper, salt, chilli powder on the egg and fold the sheets
-
Put the egg rolls on a baking sheet and spray some oil/butter and heat them in the oven for40 minutes at 400F.Flip them half way through to make sure they bake evenly on all sides
-
Once they turn golden brown , take them out of the oven, bring them to room temperature and serve warm with ketchup or any other sauce of your choice
I generally prepare Veg rolls and sweet rolls using different kinds of stuffing with the same sheets ,I will try to share those recipes too when I make them the next time:-)
