Verve Client Project -Scandinavian inspired modern living room design

A Scandinavian, modern living room design in a bachelor pad

It feels surreal to be back on the blogging scene after a very long sabbatical. In fact, this sabbatical was not all about the absence of work, but it was defined by the presence of work. In constant pursuit of purpose, working on personal and client  projects sporadically just couldn’t find the time to blog about everything.

So here I am with my latest post about a recent client project that was wrapped up during the pandemic.

It’s a Scandinavian inspired Modern living room with a splash of mid century design. Minimalistic design was something I haven’t explored before as my design aesthetic is more contemporary eclectic. So, when I got the opportunity to design a modern, minimalistic living room/bachelor pad for a client, I seized the opportunity and am pleased to share the final outcome. Sharing  some pictures from the makeover and design process.

My client had bought this new construction and requested my help with designing the living room to suit his design taste and lifestyle. It is a bright, open space with lot of natural light. The flooring was large gray porcelain tiles with a  neutral color palette for the walls.  I had envisioned a clean space that was cohesive and had all the elements of a Scandinavian interior. The colors, furnishings, accessories everything was carefully curated to infuse the desired vibe into the space.

I had to come up with a design board for the three areas in the space. A dining area,  living/seating area and the TV /entertainment wall and the goal was to have a seamless transition between the different zones.

Before I share the final design ,here are some pictures of the space before we started the design process-

Since my client wanted a modern, minimalistic design for his living room ,our final design is a mashup of the above design boards and here are the pictures of the space after adding in the décor, bringing in the furniture and accessories.

The comfy, gray sectional was the perfect backdrop to add a pop of color. The nested Coffee tables brought in the mid century modern vibe to the space. The cushions, décor, accessories tie in the colors from the Navajo print area rug. Moving on the the accessories ,the African figurines are from my client’s personal memorabilia and hold a special place.I wanted to give the space a personal touch and so incorporated them into the design upon special request.
The goal was to avoid clutter and since scale is very important in creating an environment that feels airier and less cramped, all the artwork ,accessories and handpicked with this goal in mind.We tried to anchor the space with few pieces in clean, minimalistic lines or monochromatic color schemes.
